It all began with a kitchen table conversation in Worcester, MA back in 2020.
The mission of the New England Black Artist Collective (NEBAC) is to enhance the creative practices of visual artists of the African diaspora in New England and the visibility of their work.
About
The New England Black Artist Collective is a gathering of visual artists residing in one of the six New England states. The organization had its genesis in a kitchen table conversation in Worcester in 2020, but work was deferred as a result of the pandemic. We came together formally as a group after an exceptional exhibition in 2024 in celebration of Black History Month. As stated in our mission, the goal of the organization is to advance the practice and visibility of artists of the African diaspora. We accomplish this by sharing information about calls for work and news about exhibits, opportunities for funding, hosting periodic critique sessions, and through our website, providing opportunities for members to showcase their work.
Our members include filmmakers, photographers, painters, enamelists, and dollmakers—in short, their work represents the fullness and richness of the Black creative spirit.
NEBAC is associated with Worcester Black History Project and currently under the fiscal sponsorship of the YWCA Central Massachusetts.
